Itinerary

Feb. 15 – Departure from SFO

Fri.         Depart SFO TK 80, 6:15PM.

Feb. 16      ARRIVE IN ISRAEL

Sat.         Welcome ! Arrival in Ben Gurion Airport by TK 865 at 9:35 pm.met by Immanuel Tours representative right after passport control. After border formalities you will be taken to your bus and meet with your tour guide – Hanna Ben Haim. Drive to the Metropolitan Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Feb. 17     Caesarea – Mt. Carmel – Megiddo – Nazareth – Sea of Galilee

Sun.       We check out of the Metropolitan Hotel after breakfast and start by driving northwards along the coastal plain to the ruins of the ancient city of Caesarea Maritima which was built by King Herod and later became the seat of government of the Roman governors including Pontius Pilate who sat in judgement on Jesus Christ and sentenced him to be crucified. Visit the extensive excavations of the site including the harbour, the Crusader City, the theatre, the hippodrome and the Roman aquaduct. We continue and drive by Mt. Carmel, where the Prophet Elijah challenged the Priests of Baal (1 Kings 18:17-40). We shall also visit the Mt. Carmel Assembly and have the opportunity to hear about their Ministry- www.carmelcongregation.org.il Our next stop is at Megiddo, the Harmageddon of the Book of Revelations. Christian tradition has it that the final great battle of the world will be fought here. Next we continue our drive to visit Sepphoris which was the most important city in Galilee during the first 4 centuries AD. Our next stop is in Nazareth, a town in the hill country of Galilee where Jesus grew to manhood. We continue and drive through Cana of Galilee, where Jesus performed his first miracle at the wedding feast (John 2:1-11). We arrive to Ron Beach Hotel in the late afternoon and check in for dinner and overnight.

Feb. 18         Sea of Galilee

Mon.            The Sea of Galilee is rich in memories of the three years of Jesus’ ministry around its shores. We begin this day with a visit to the so-called “Jesus Boat” a fishing boat of the kind used by the disciples of Jesus. We then take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee with Daniel Carmel (a Messianic Jewish Believer who will be leading us in Praise & worship). We arrive to Capernaum, where Jesus dwelt after he left Nazareth and did many signs and wonders, to visit the ancient synagogue and the nearby House of Peter. We drive on around the shores of the Sea of Galilee to visit the Mt. of Beatitudes, Korazim (or Corozaim), which was a small Jewish town, which Jesus used to visit and to preach to it’s inhabitants, who refused to listen (Mat. 11,21). Our next stop is at Kursi (Math. 8,28-32) before ending this day with a visit to a traditional Baptismal site at Yardenit by the River Jordan

Feb. 19       Golan Heights

Tues.         This morning we drive up to the Golan Heights passing by Katzerin “the town of the Golan” which was established in 1974 and continue on to Mt. Bental from where there is an observation point over the whole region and onto the ghost town of Kuneitra. Next we stop at the Banias, the location of Caesarea Philippi where the Apostle Peter made his great confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ, before continuing to Tel Dan, which was the northernmost town in biblical Israel (hence the saying “from Dan to Beersheba”). We drive back to the Sea of Galilee Dinner and overnight.

Feb. 20       Jordan Valley – Qumran – Dead Sea

Wed.    We check out of the Ron Beach Hotel after breakfast and drive southwards through the Jordan Valley and along the slopes of the Gilboa Mountains to Beit Shean which was one of the 10 cities of the Decapolis . In New Testament times this city became one of the 10 cities of the Decapolis (Matthew 4:25; Mark 5:20; Mark 7:31). Continue to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We arrive at the Daniel Hotel by the Dead Sea in the early afternoon so we will have the opportunity to enjoy a “float” in the minearal rich waters of the Dead Sea or get a nice treatment in the hotel SPA. Dinner and overnight.

Feb. 21     Ein Gedi – Massada – Timna Park- Eliat

Thurs.     After a good Israeli breakfast we set off to Ein Gedi, where young David hid in a cave when running from King Saul and where he is said to have composed several of his Psalms. We continue to Massada Mountain Fortress , Herod’s magnificent mountaintop palace and fortress, and scene of the last Jewish resistance against the Romans in 73 AD. Drive southwards to Timna Park in the Arabah, where a life-size replica of the biblical tabernacle has been constructed. While no original materials (gold, silver, bronze) have been used. the model is accurate in every other way based upon the biblical description. Finally we arrive in Eilat , a resort town by the Red Sea. We check in to the Prima Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Feb. 22         Red Sea – Mizpe Ramon – Ein Avdat – Beersheba – Jerusalem

Fri.          For those who wish , there will be an opportunity for snorkeling at the Coral Beach , located opposite the hotel. We set off by midmorning and drive northwards to the Mizpe Ramon Crater where we will stop at the visitors center which tells the geological story of the formation of the Makhtesh, the largest landform of its type in the world. Drive northwards to Ein Avdat, one of Israels most striking and beautiful sites. Set within the incredible landscape of the Zin Valley in the center of Israel’s Negev Desert, Ein Avdat national Park offers spectacular panoramas and enchanted hikes. We drive towards Beersheba, the capital city of the Negev Desert and visit Tel Beersheba (Genesis 21:22-34; 22:19;1 Kings 19:3). We proceed towards Jerusalem. Before checking into our hotel we will stop at oan observation point on Mt. Scopus to have our first glimpse of Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel. We check in to the Prima Royale Hotel for dinner and overnight. Today is the eve of the Shabbat. We will have the opportunity to walk to the Western Wall to take part in the welcoming of the Shabbat. Shabbat Shalom!

Feb. 23       Mt. Olives – Old City – Mt. Zion – Garden Tomb

Sat.        Our first stop today will be on the top of the Mount of Olives, for a majestic view over all of ancient and modern Jerusalem, the center of the biblical world. We walk down the “Palm Sunday Road”, via the Chapel of Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem to the Garden of Gethsemane where he prayed on the night of his betrayal (Lk. 22:40-46). Next we shall enter within the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, walking from the Pools of Bethesda and along the Via Dolorosa to Mt. Zion for a visit to the Upper Room, the Tomb of King David and the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Lastly we will visit the Garden Tomb and Gordon’s Golgotha where we will have some time to pray and celebrate the Lord’s supper. Return to the Prima Royale hotel for dinner and overnight.

Feb. 24     Temple Mount – City of David – Yad Vashem-Bethlehem

Sun.        We will have an EARLY start this morning. Our first stop for the day will be the Temple Mount. From here we continue to the City of David including Hezekiah’s Tunnel and the Pool of Siloam. Next we continue walking via Robinson’s Arch to the Garden of Ophel where archaelogical excavations have revealed many remains of the herodian period which include the steps known as the Hulda Steps leading up to the Temple Court. From here we will drive to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. Next we will visit the Israel Museum with the Holy Land Model of ancient Jerusalem, which gives us an excellent view in miniature of the Jerusalem of Jesus’ day and the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kep. Afternoon visit to Bethlehem and the Shepherd’s Field. This evening we will have our farewell dinner at the Prima Royale Hotel.

Feb. 25.        SHALOM Departure & Arrive in the USA.

Mon            After an early breakfast, we set off from our hotel and drive to Ben Gurion Airport for our homebound flight TK 864 at 08:55.  Arrive SFO 4:35PM TK79.
