Do you ever tend to be overly logical, rational or realistic? When faced with a difficult circumstance, I find myself taking the ‘high’ road of sensibility. You know; do what makes sense to fix that situation. I may even pray for deliverance and still naturally gravitate to a logical, make-sense solution.
Many times in the Bible, God’s solutions did not initially make any sense. After reading some of these stories, I think that if we want to see the God-kind of solutions, we need to be prepared for Him to move outside of our box of reasoning. We need to make room for miracles.
For example, take King Jehoshaphat and all of Judah when they were confronted by a confederate army of Moab, Ammon and Edom in 2 Chronicles 20. God’s solution wasn’t sending the generals and the lieutenants into battle. He sent musicians! Yes, that will do it King Jehoshaphat. God promised that it was His battle and not Judah’s. Sure enough, after believing God and obeying His word, they sent the praise team in first, and God brought confusion in the enemies’ camp causing them to destroy each other. Not a single arrow was shot or sword wielded by Judah. No casualties either, just spoils and victory to be taken! This was a much better outcome than they could have come up with in their conventional war room discussions.
In another case, Jesus and Peter needed to pay their taxes (Matt 17:26-27). Rather than do the ‘logical’ and ‘sensible’ thing at the moment, Jesus sought a solution from His Father. God showed him that the money would be found in the lake in the mouth of a fish. So he sent Peter to catch the fish and get the coin to pay their taxes. This was certainly not your typical way of finding money, but easy if you are willing to trust in your heavenly Father.
Doing it God’s way is not easy on the nerves, but by continual exercise, it gets easier and is definitely the better way in the end. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Prov 3:5-6). Make room for a miracle in your life today; put your trust in God.
