A Second Touch (Mark 8:22-26)

In the gospel of Mark, a blind man from Bethsaida is brought to Jesus for healing.  There is no record of this blind man having an expectation or desire for this. Others asked on his behalf, and Jesus responded by leading him out of the town by hand.
Jesus led him away from his influences, ambitions, and human expectations. Then, Jesus spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him.  He proceeded to ask the man if he saw anything.  As the man looked up, he said that he was able to see a little, but not clearly.  He saw people as if they were “trees walking around”.  His vision was still unclear and out of focus.
However, Jesus did not lead him all the way out of the town to leave him half healed, improved but not complete. Jesus was not done.  He would draw out his faith and expectation. The scripture says, “Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.”
I believe it’s time for the church to experience a second touch from Jesus—a touch that enables clarity of spiritual eyesight to fully see Christ. Jesus wants to give us complete vision and fullness. He wants to touch you again!
Seeing Him clearly will result in transformation that causes abandonment of destructive lifestyles, unhealthy occupations, and detrimental acquaintances.  A passionate pursuit will then ensue; nothing but Jesus will do!
John the Baptist saw Jesus as the one who baptizes in the Holy Spirit and fire, and the One whose fan is in his hand to emblazon a fire that consumes everything without virtue or substance and leaves behind hot embers and a bright flame of love that no flood could quench.  The church will never get passed, grow out of, get weary of, get too old for, or regret another touch of His love.  She will press in to completely apprehend the calling of Christ.  Obstacles and difficulties will not detour her.  She knows He honors and is pleased by faith and that she lives in His favor.  He is her life and nothing else will do!
