“God is Good…All the Time!”

No doubt we have all heard someone say, “If God is good, why would he allow this tragedy or difficulty to happen?” We all go through seasons when our faith in the goodness of God is challenged. We begin to question the love of God and our faith in His promises is shaken. Trials and tribulations can leave us feeling lonely and hopeless, but despite our feelings, Gods promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. He is good and mercies endure forever.
The Bible teaches us that God is good because it’s His nature. He is good. Selah.
Ex 33:19
19 And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you (Moses), and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence.
Gal 5:22
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
He is also good because of what he does.
Ex 18:9
9 Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the LORD had done for Israel in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians. 10 He said, “Praise be to the LORD, who rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians and of Pharaoh.
Jer 33:9
9 Then this city (Jerusalem) will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.’
Jesus said that no one is good but God. It is easy to believe God is good when we are in a season of plenty. However, can we be equally convinced of His goodness when He allows trials to come our way? As I studied other scriptures, I came to the conclusion that whatever God does is good; even if its trials or discipline allowed in our lives—it is all done from his good nature. Ps 118:1 “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” We may sometimes not understand, but like David we must ALWAYS BELIEVE that we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Ps 27:13). And that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. God wants to show us his goodness and also do good in our lives for the glory of his name. God is good. We will be at peace when this truth is settled in our hearts.
