Are you ready to take your faith to new level? Have you ever had someone tell you that you needed to have faith that God would take care of something? Maybe you’re hurting from a breakup with a boyfriend/girlfriend, having financial problems, or know someone who is very ill and in need of a miracle.
It’s easy for someone else to say you need faith, but what does it really mean? It doesn’t take faith to sit down in a chair–you can see very well that the chair holds you. However, real faith is shown when you don’t know what the results will be. When you follow God, even though you can’t imagine how things could work out–that’s faith.
I have a number of friends who need a miracle including my father whose health continues to deteriorate. I received the not so encouraging status of my dad’s health on January 1, 2013 to start the New Year. But I am praying for his healing instead of focusing on his illness. Whatever you’re facing focus on Christ the healer and not on the issue.
Take a moment to read Hebrews 11 and see how some people displayed their faith in God despite incredible obstacles. Check out Hebrews 11:6-10 below:
“6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. 7 It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.
8 It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 9 And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. 10 Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.”
Isn’t amazing how much faith Noah, Abraham, Sarah and others mentioned in this chapter had in God? They trusted Him when what they were told to do seemed crazy and at the risk of being laughed at and ridiculed by their friends and relatives.
Some people were beaten to death, but they remained faithful to God. They believed that God had something better for them, even though they did not understand. This kind of faith is not easy, and it does not come cheap. You or I may not be asked to suffer physically for Christ, but we will have many opportunities to display faith in Him, even if it doesn’t seem to make sense. Marrying the right person, choosing a college, moving to a new town, or believing for that miracle–in all these circumstances and many more you will need to have faith.
It boils down to believing that God knows better than you what is best for you. Do you believe that? In 2013 and beyond lets trust and believe God at His word, and we’ll see incredible breakthrough in our lives for His glory!
