Just a Paintbrush in the Hands of the Master – John Bidaurreta

Have ever seen an artist painting a landscape by the side of a country road? They have the canvas perfectly positioned on the easel, with all the colors of the rainbow organized on their palette, and paintbrushes of all shapes and sizes.

Each of those paintbrushes is designed to make different stokes, some real fine and delicate for details and outlining and some real wide and thick for broad, bold, strokes and for covering large areas quickly, with many variations in between. Each brush is made for a specific purpose. The artist needs many brushes to finish a masterpiece.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.  Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)

Each of us is a unique creation that was fearfully and wonderfully made by the Master for a specific purpose.  Each of us was made with different gifts and talents.  Kind of like those paintbrushes. 5007625095_fe1fc0f57c_z

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.  Romans 12:4-5 (NKJV)

Just like an artist on a country road cannot finish a masterpiece painting with only one brush, so our Lord in heaven cannot finish the masterpiece He is painting without our unique and original contribution.

Lord Jesus, help us remember that we were fearfully and wonderfully made for your specific purpose. Help us not to minimize who we are but that we use our talents for the work of the kingdom. Thank you Lord that as we yield our lives to you,  you truly make something beautiful out of us—that our brushstrokes are found on the Masterpiece that you are painting.
