Have you ever been picked last for something? At a point in which you feel that you weren’t even chosen at all? A good example would be two team captains picking teams on the playground and you’re the last one standing, and they don’t even call your name; you just end up walking silently over to their team. Or everybody needs a partner for science lab and everyone else has a partner and you’re the odd person out and the teacher has to assign someone to help you.
Somehow we can take these childhood rejections into our Christian walk. We can see ourselves through this negative lens. I have even thought to myself at times, “the only reason I am helping in this area of ministry at church is because no one else was available”, or “I am the only Christian at my work place because God couldn’t find someone else”.
However, I want to tell you that you are the Lord’s first choice not His last option.
John 15:16 (NKJV)
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
The Lord has chosen us, appointed us and placed us into these assignments to bear much fruit. He is with us, backing us up as we go. He has truly given us everything we need to effectively share the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever we go.
Lord help us today to see ourselves the way you see us, give us a fresh realization that we were made for such a time as this. We are your first choice. You have placed us into these specific assignments. Help us to partner with heaven and see a greater level of fruitfulness break forth in every area of our lives. Thank you that you have given us everything we need. In Jesus name, Amen.
