Guest Speaker Ruthie Kim

Ruthie Kim is a community activator, leader and visionary. For the past 20 years, Ruthie has been a tireless advocate for women and girls in San Francisco, where she lives, works and raises her family. She is Founder and Executive Director of Because Justice Matters, a faith-based non-profit operating in the Tenderloin neighborhood since 2008.

Because Justice Matters (BJM), a ministry of YWAM San Francisco, is building pathways to brighter futures for women and girls in urban communities. Through ongoing outreach, education, and life-giving programs, BJM works to break the cycle of exploitation and to ease the challenges associated with homelessness, poverty, and isolation. Building self-esteem through dance and art therapy, teaching English, and providing crisis intervention and small healing groups are just a few of the ways BJM seeks to restore and empower women and girls.

In addition to providing leadership and strategic direction for BJM, Ruthie is a prophetically gifted speaker and facilitator and is part of the teaching team at Reality SF. As a life-coach for groups and individuals, Ruthie empowers others to fully realize their goals and potential. Ruthie’s life work is greatly inspired and enriched by being a wife and mom of two boys.
